We were disappointed and melancholy as this favorite spot of our is now a ruined memory. The music was great, but the price was outrageous considering the limited experience, and the food was not impressive. My husband and son order the calamari appetizer which tasted "ok", but the bowls in which it came were packed with paper at the bottom, making the bowl look overflowing instead of shortchanged. The Smoke Jazz Club, one of New York City’s premier live music venues, announced its long-awaited reopening. Dinner at our seating was a la carte, with (literally) a plate of arugula and 2 slices of orange and a sliver of onion priced at 17.00. A later set (11:30) was advertised with a cover of $20. Smoke serves innovative American Bistro fare developed by critically acclaimed executive chef Patricia Williams. The next set did not start until 10, with the same cover. Instead of being able to enjoy music sets throughout the evening, an elevated cover charge ($40pp) provided exactly one hour of music, whereupon guests were thanked for coming and the band was off again until a set much later in the evening. Although the interior of the small venue remained unchanged, and we were seated in our favorite spot right next to the band, the entire format of the club was different than what we previously experienced. Smalls Jazz Club has been a pioneer in live streaming and began streaming shows live from the venue in 2007. The SmallsLIVE Foundation for Jazz Art & Education is a not-for-profit arts organization. We visited again this past weekend, much anticipating the same flavor as that of past visits - our most recent was two years ago. New York City, NY 10016 Checking Account 98 Routing 022-0000-46. The club was opened on Apby co-founders Paul Stache and Frank Christopher and is currently owned by Stache and his wife and partner Molly Sparrow Johnson. My husband and I have visited Smoke repeatedly over the past seven years, enjoying excellent live music in a cosy atmosphere. Smoke Jazz Club is a jazz club located at 2751 Broadway on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City.
